I consider Computing as a fundamental, transdisciplinary method of inquiry for scientific and engineering problems. Our group examines disciplinary interfaces and their common computational hallmarks. We focus on Multiscale Modeling, Uncertainty Quantification and Stochastic Optimization to understand and predict phenomena in areas ranging from Engineering to Life Sciences. Current projects include studies of collective behavior in fish schooling, interactions of blood and recirculating cancer cells and nanoscale heat and mass transfer.
